Stacy Sherman Speaks About Diversity & Inclusion at National Event

Getting a “seat at the table” where decisions are made and working around “boys clubs” for years isn’t easy. I haven’t always been included even when discussions pertain to my job. Rather than feel stuck, I’ve shifted my attitude and intentionally advocate for the Diversity of Thoughts.

Culture transformation & employee happiness (which impacts customer experiences) are my focus at work and personally too. I’m writing for Forbes, speaking at events, podcasting & blogging to affect change. I also launched a “Women Leaders Making A Difference” online community to provide a safe place for authentic discussions and support. I’m optimistic, because of collective efforts, that girls like my daughter won’t have to overcome as many challenges as previous generations and boys, like my son, will advocate for women too. I discuss more in my article: Overcoming Diversity Challenges.

It’s worth mentioning that In 2018, I left my job at Verizon to join Schindler Elevator Corp, where there are about 10% women. It is not my style to leave what’s comfortable, but I saw an opportunity to be a change agent. My gut steered me right as I’m part of a 10-month Diversity Leadership program. Supportive men & inspiring women are mentoring me, and I’m paying it forward.

It’s an honor to be chosen to share my stories with other Women Leaders at Raise Her Voice Global Event. Check out activities in your area on Ellevate’s Website.
